about

My memory is a bit fuzzy when it comes to when exactly I came up with this adaptation. I think I was somewhere in the midst of recording 'Marooned On Samsara' when the idea of doing a version of this damn fine Eurythmics song came to me. The time stamp on several audio files from the recording suggest it was recorded exactly five years ago (August 14th), so I was right : I was well under way with recording the final version of 'Samsara' when the urge to adapt this song came over me like a persistent fever.

It started out in much the same way as the first song I ever adapted, which is The Cure's 'A Forest' : I wanted to capture the essence of how the song made me feel personally. And much like applies to 'Eden', I set out to deliver the emotion from the male side of the Ego spectrum, since the original was sung by Annie Lennox, definitely female (and Scottish at that, which is always good for extra credit in my book).

Be that as it may, this adaptation is another one I'm proud of, enough to share it with you.

Best enjoyed on a rainy autumn evening, when cars hiss by your window, headlights shining through while the wind is sweeping through the branches and remaining wet leaves, leaving moving shadows on the wall in your otherwise darkened room...

Prog, Goth, Rock, something music-y. Definitely dark. Dark is good. If you like dark music with the odd odd time signatures thrown in with the melancholy, this is your place to be.
