about

James was a Type 2 diabetic, who also suffered from neuropathic pains in his hands and feet. He was on medication for the time I knew him, but for a number of years, the drugs didn't work. It made him into a nearly insufferable curmudgeon, who, instigated by the severe pain he was in constantly, rubbed a lot of people - me included - the wrong way with all the wrong words. At the best of times, James was never one to mince words and could be down right irreverent at the drop of a hat, but at that time, he lashed out at people in some very wrong ways. The pain he was in was a reason, but it didn’t excuse all of his verbal abuse.

I suppose I could have left that off the album, but James would not forgive me if I would have portrayed him as a saintly figure he never was. So I just went all out and launched into a no holds barred verbal dressing down without actually resorting to profanity. James had a knack for lashing out in a more colourful language than just dropping F-bombs all over the place. It's one of the things I liked about him when he directed it at the right time and the right person. Unfortunately, for a few years, he didn't do that and therefore lost a lot of friends.

The lyrics reflect his own words, and I didn't spare myself when it came to that. This song is also sung in my polished Weegie accent, for obvious reasons. And if ye dinnae like it, ye can well feck aff, ERSE! ;)

lyrics

I am Curmudgeon
And I say what I want
Get bent, ya FUD
Ye paedophilic whine
Ye weird bearded ponce

I am Curmudgeon
And I’m in pain
It is my license
To lash out
Ye lily livered snowflakes
Ye hypocritic fans
Of lang deid tribute bands

I am Curmudgeon!

I am Curmudgeon
And I’ll stomp all over you
It’s what I do
Ye cowering musician
Ye blethering buffoon
Ye better listen

I am Curmudgeon
I have all the answers
To yer pathetic problems
Ye better heed ma words
For if they go unheard
You’ll remain the feckless ERSE ye ur

Cause I am Curmudgeon!

Here comes the pain!

Prog, Goth, Rock, something music-y. Definitely dark. Dark is good. If you like dark music with the odd odd time signatures thrown in with the melancholy, this is your place to be.
