When I first released this song officially, it was a freebie extra for those who preordered the 'AnimAElegy' album, unearthed from the very depths of the vaults, and polished to suit the sonic times we live in.
'Innerland' was one of the very first songs I wrote, back in the day when Ahrayeph was still called 'Crucifire'. I remember working on this song with the entire band we had back then. Even though I did all the writing on my own even back then, the songs were shaped into what they became in the rehearsal shack (yes, it was a shack), with the invaluable help of the rest of the band. If toxicomania hadn't wrecked us, who knows what could have been? We had some great musicians in Crucifire. Oh well...
Anyway, this song is one of those that featured on the original - awfully sounding - Crucifire demo, and which now all have been reworked and integrated into the Ahrayeph catalogue, and I am very happy with this and the other songs finally shining darkly in the way I heard it in my head back in 1996, but due to the massive amount of inexperience on hand, we didn't manage to get it onto tape that way. We did have some great fun regardless, and I don't (just) mean the industrial quantities of weed that were involved into making that demo, even though both the enjoyable and the questionable side effects of being as heavily stoned as a Hebrew saying 'Jehovah' are very much part of what makes up the lyrical theme of this song.
I do hope you enjoy this song, and, again, thank you for your support!
lyrics
INNERLAND
Shut you out, invite me in
Let Cerebral Games begin
A Travesty, a Tragedy
Head down, my Widowed Eyes
Look out into Folly
The Clarity
Of Near Insanity
From
Winterland
Summerland
Ghostland
Darkland
Mindland
My Land
Innerland
Isolation, Dear Old Friend
Clutching your Your Inviting Hands
There are no fears
Outside you
Label me, as you expect me
Paint me any colour
None shall ever enter
In Winterland
Summerland
Ghostland
Darkland
Mindland
My Land
Innerland
And would you care to
And would you dare to
And would you tread
where all those mindless fear to tread
You cannot reach me
You will never see Me
In
Winterland
Summerland
Ghostland
Dark Land
Dry Land
Mindland
My Land
Innerland

Prog, Goth, Rock, something music-y. Definitely dark. Dark is good. If you like dark music with the odd odd time signatures thrown in with the melancholy, this is your place to be.
