Back in the day, when I started out producing demoes for Ahrayeph's first album, James got the previews. His constant complaint back in those days was that I would underrepresent the low frequencies. Having been a bass player in a band, it was a given he would put the emphasis on the low end sound of a song. Hence, he often bombarded me with the slogan 'MAIR BASS!!!' ('More bass'), although in this case, you should pronounce the latter word like the namesake fish to pronounce it in Glaswegian, or 'Weegie' for short.
So when I set out to make this album, I thought ; 'Since this is an album dedicated to him, why not give him what he would have wanted, and then some?', which I promptly proceeded to do. Case in point : every stringed instrument you're hearing in this intro, has been played on bass guitar. Tom Rafferty sent me a stonking fuzz laden solo, which to me is the highlight of this intro. The synth choirs are intentionally kept in the low register voices and are present for 'goth' effect. It's all rather tongue in cheek and I'm sure Blaast would have spit his wine all over his iMac's screen, had he heard the song and seen the title. But I'm sure he would have loved it.
Prog, Goth, Rock, something music-y. Definitely dark. Dark is good. If you like dark music with the odd odd time signatures thrown in with the melancholy, this is your place to be.
